2006
Beautiful, Beautiful Barbados...
My two-week vacation and promotion in Barbados was fantastic. February 5th, the Barbados Advocate published a story about my visit: Barbados cures writer's block with inspiration by Nigel Wallace. The next day, Pages Bookstore had prepared a lovely table for my book signing which ran from noon till 2:30 p.m. Tuesday 7th, I was guest speaker at the Canadian Women's Club luncheon at Fisherpond, a beautiful old plantation house. On Friday, the 10th, I was a guest on the early Good Morning Barbados talk show and the Barbados Advocate published a second article: The Neglected Garden... a tale of hope. The Saturday Sun, the Nation News weekend paper published an article on the 11th: Love for island inspires book by Ricky Jordan.
I love Barbados and was able to visit many of my favourite spots and discover new ones. A visit at the Amaryllis, the former Asta, was a very special treat and meeting Mr. Basil Gooding, one of its former managers was memorable. My most touching moment was meeting Mr. Paul Foster from the Barbados National Trust at my book signing. This kind gentleman took a special interest in my novel when we visited Barbados in 1990 and made me promise to let him know of the English version's release. Subsequently, I contacted Mr. Glyne Murray, Barbados' High Commissioner in Canada, my special guest at the April 2005's launch of the English version. He has been instrumental in this wonderful promotion tour.
I want to thank Pages Bookstore, The Barbados Advocate, Nations News, The Canadian High Commission in Barbados, The Canadian Women's Club and the CBC for their kind hospitality. A special thank you to Mr. Glyne Murray for his keen interest and invaluable help.
Saturday May 4th to 8th, I will be in Sudbury at Le Salon du livre de Sudbury. If you are in the area, please drop in at the Chardon Bleu kiosque. I will have both versions of my novel to offer.
Thursday July 20th, don't miss the interview with Jane Crosier on radio CKCU 93.1FM at 6:30 p.m. We will discuss my novel and the upcoming Cumberland Garden Tour on July 23rd. You can meet me in Anne & Bob Hawley's garden situated at 2530 Old Montreal Road in Cumberland. Some of my paintings will be featured. You can read my essay "Gardening Woes and Blessings" to be published in OIW's "Jems & Jewels" this autumn.
July 23rd, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., explore the charm and heritage of Cumberland at this year's garden tour and historical walk, hosted by the Cumberland Village Community Association and the Cumberland Historical Society. Local artists and craftspeople will provide demonstrations and offer handcrafted items for sale. Meet me in Bob & Anne Hawley's beautiful garden at 2530 Old Montreal Road, in the heart of Cumberland. I would be happy to sign a copy of "The Neglected Garden" for you. Come and see some of my paintings.
August 13th from 11 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., enjoy the Ô Délice Food Fair, Guelph Univerisity Campus in Alfred, 31, St. Paul St., Alfred. Visit the local artist section where I will be offering both versions of my novel, showing some of my paintings and selling greeting cards of "The Neglected Garden" and my "Beach Babies".
A new one-hour series, Pour tout l'amour du monde, will air on RogersTV23 at 4 & 10 p.m. and 9 a.m. the next day. I will be Ginette Gratton's special guest on September 27th. Join us!
October 15th, please join Sigrid Macdonald and me at the Baico Store, corner of Richmond Road and McEwen (102C), 1 p.m. to 4. Sigrid is the author of D'Amour Road, an excellent novel based on the murder of Louise Ellis. We will discuss women's issues, our novels and gladly sign a copy for you. Activités 2006
J'ai passé deux semaines à la Barbade en février, 2006. J'ai eu la chance de promouvoir mon livre chez le libraire "Pages Bookstore" de Cave Sheperd. Invitée spéciale du Canadian Women's Club de Barbade, j'ai pu parler de mon livre et du fait que la violence faite aux femmes n'a pas de frontières et est encore trop fréquente. De plus, j'ai été interviewée à l'émission "Good Morning Barbados" et trois articles ont été publiés dans les journaux locaux.
Le 24 mars 2006, j'ai donné un atelier à la résidence Belle-Rive de Rockland.
J'ai participé au Salon du livre à Sudbury, du 4 au 8 mai 2006. Les gens étaient très accueillants et je compte bien aller au Salon de Hearst l'an prochain.
Jeudi, le 20 juillet, ne manquez pas l'entrevue avec Jane Crosier au poste CKCU 93.1FM à 18:30. J'aurai la chance de parler de mon roman et de ma présence au Cumberland Garden Tour le 23 juillet.

Cette foire gastronomique met en vedette les produits agro-alimentaires de la région, les talents de plusieurs chefs de renom et d'artistes régionaux. J'offrirai la version française et anglaise de mon roman, quelques-unes de mes peintures et des cartes toutes occasions.
Vendredi, le 8 septembre, dans les studios de Rogers23, la première d'une série d'émission, "Pour tout l'amour du monde" avec Ginette Gratton sera filmée. Je serai l'invitée de cette première émission qui mettra en vedette mon roman. Nous parlerons de mon vécu et de conditions difficiles auxquelles les femmes ont souvent à faire face. Comment s'en sortir? Comment s'épanouir après une relation difficile? Voilà quelques thèmes que nous aborderons.
Pour tout l'amour du monde, la nouvelle émission de Ginette Gratton, passera sur les ondes de Rogers23, mercredi le 27 septembre à 16 & 22 hres, ainsi qu'à 9hres le lendemain matin. Ginette Gratton et moi aimerions bien recevoir du feedback.

Vendredi, le 20 octobre, je serai à l'assemblée annuelle de la Fafo à Vanier (Pères Blancs). Plusieurs auteurs seront présents, entre autres, Lysette Brochu, Liliane Gratton, Michel Gratton et Jean-Yves Pelletier. Je me ferai un plaisir de signer une copie du "Jardin négligé" au stand de l'AAOF.
L'émission "Pour tout l'amour du monde" à laquelle j'étais l'artiste invitée sera rediffusée dimanche, le 19 novembre, à 16 et 22hres, ainsi que le lendemain matin à 9hres. Je participe aussi à une table ronde mensuelle. Celle du mois de novembre sera diffusée lundi, le 20.
La Foire du livre de OIW nous revient les 2 et 3 décembre (10hres à 18hres) au parc Lansdowne. L'entrée est libre. Plus de 60 auteurs seront au rendez-vous. Des livres de tous les genres, pour tous les goûts. Venez bouquiner!
